PTCB Exam
In order to become a licensed pharmacy tech, you will need to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam, or PTCE. Since the exam is administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, it is usually referred to as the PTCB Exam.
The cost in 2026 to take the PTCB exam is $129, and the test is available year round at Pearson VUE testing centers, which are located in all major cities throughout the country. There are 90 multiple choice questions on the test and you are given 120 minutes to answer them.
