A pharmacy technician is a pharmacy health care worker who works under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. They normally work in retail pharmacies or hospital pharmacies, but there can be a few other options such as health insurance companies, pharmaceutical wholesalers, nursing homes, or the federal government. Requirements for becoming a pharmacy tech vary from state to state. More and more states and employers are mandating certification, which is done through either the Pharmacist Technician Certification Board or the National Healthcareer Association.
